Tim Pilsbury
I make a wide variety of work, all pieces are thrown on a kick wheel. Recently I have been concentrating on making tall pieces, but not exclusively as you will see by my plates. I like to work with coarse clay which is fired to stoneware temperatures.
I have been applying wood ash to some pieces over the initial stoneware glazes and I get it to stick by applying wallpaper paste; the wood ash is then sieved over the paste. This ash combines with the clay body and glazes to give a range of results, often unpredictable, that I seek.
